Conventions are nothing more than big money makers. Although I would love to see the Friday dropped from the RC, these big gatherings will always exist.

Last of the big conventions?
by NikL inhad lunch with some friends during today's waste of time convention.
they spoke of the rumor floating around that the jws will move away from these big regional conventions and have them at assembly halls and tie them in to kingdom halls.. they seemed to believe it was a pretty reliable source.. i think it would be too good to be true but who knows?.
anyone else heard this rumor?.

Thanks to you all for your great advice and understanding. At times, the cognitive dissonance is deafening and emotionally overwhelming.😟
One thing that has improved is that I am making a new group of acquaintances through my workplace and non-JW relatives, missing meetings regularly, not as many hours in service either. Paving the road for a future fade.
Quite the task when being indoctrinated from birth, and all important close friends and relatives are hardcore 'line, hook and sinker' JWs.
The saga continues... 😔

I only wish the Palestinians would get the same fire power and financial support as the Israelis do.
The only way it would be a fair fight, and the only way they would kick Israel out of their land.
Israelis are presumptuous bullies that need a good as whooping by all its neighbors.
This crazy belief that they're God's chosen people needs to be put to rest once and for all.

48% Capacity at Kingdom Halls - A post on reddit
by berrygerry inthere was a letter read this week, followed by a talk about all the changes that are coming in the next couple of months regarding merging congregations in the area (va/md/dc) - the letter said that the kh's in the area are only being filled to 48% capacity.
this was music to my ears as i have noticed the decline in attendance in all the neighboring congregations.
they will sell some kingdom halls and merge some congregations.

The older I get, the less I want to be bugged down with a doomsday religion. Listening to the meetings, specially the mid-week one, over the phone is wonderful!
This Org is hemorrhaging bad!
These most imperfect, heaven-bound crazy believing MEN, better come up with a heartfelt apology instead of always blaming the followers for their mistakes.

Told My Parents Yesterday That I Don't Want to Be a JW
by Saethydd ini wasn't entirely sure what to expect when i made the decision to tell my parents how i really feel, but i was prepared for the worst, fortunately, it didn't come to that.
after i told them i didn't want to go to the meetings anymore it led to a long talk with them.
they made a number of irksome and woefully uninformed statements but at least they were not aggressive and have said that they won't force me to move out over this, though, i can tell they are hoping they can convince me to "accept the truth," as long as i still live with them.

Good thing they were not aggressive. However, if you start acting all crazy, far out of sync with the way you have been brought up, prepare to receive an invitation and a date by which to vacate the premises.
By far out I mean tattoos, crazy piercings, the grungy/disheveled/provocative clothing or bringing people around of shady character; or if you start disruption of peace of any kind in the home.
Make your plans to become independent at some point. May the positive in the JW world stay with you for life. Be well.
